About Me
Growing up in Northern California near a Native American reservation, I experienced many of the daily challenges faced by marginalized communities, compounded by limited support systems and avenues for change. This early perspective continues to shape my work and deepen my understanding of the everyday issues affecting working-class and underserved communities.
While pursuing journalism and Diversity studies at the University of Washington, my work centered on public interest reporting in the greater Seattle area. There, I secured my capstone internship with Sound Publishing Inc., where my reporting flagged a rise in intimate-partner homicides during the pandemic and further gaps in official tracking data, which likely led to an underrepresentation of the actual scale of domestic violence-related deaths. That reporting deepened my dedication to approaching all stories and sources with care, depth, and integrity.
